About

I’m Dan, and I’ve been designing digital experiences in one form or another for the past 15 years or so and below I’ll try to give a glimpse into who I am.

Early years

In kindergarten my parents were told that I’m a lost hope, because I wouldn’t pay attention to activities and I used to always draw various things. That pattern repeated all throughout my school years, that was until I made contact with my first computer and video games.

Nothing captured my attention up until that point than technology. I was fascinated with computers and anything related.

Career beginnings

In high-school I was looking for any opportunity to skip classes and do what I was passionate with. I made my way into any activity that was related to graphic design and building websites, from designing the schools yearbook to designing and implementing the website for my geography class and eventually the schools.

In my last high-school year I managed to get an internship at one of the most prolific software development companies in my hometown and that was it – from that point I knew that this would be my career moving forward.

Constant improvement

I like to refer to myself as a jack of all trades, master of some – because throughout the years I’ve found passions related to designing digital products and I’ve became obsessed with them. In time, I eventually became pretty decent at some of them: I’ve taught myself 3d modelling, motion graphics and front-end development.

I’ve created and animated 3d models that eventually ended up on websites, created motion graphics that eventually made it into product presentations and I’ve developed interfaces that were deployed in production and were used by customers for years.

Hobbies

There is a very long list of things that I’ve enjoyed and I still enjoy, but here I’ll give you a glimpse into some of the interesting ones:

  • I used to do close-up and stage magic
  • I like dabling with music and playing guitar
  • I like playing video games, and I used to stream and create content in this area
  • I like going on hiking trips and taking photos – the most recent and impressive one was the GR20 in 2023
  • I’ve also created designevents.ro – a portal where you can find design related events in Romania – with my friend and mentor, Botond Palko.
